Like numerous composers (Korngold, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich, to name a few), John Williams inhabits the worlds of film and concert music. Unlike the others, who were highly successful in both, Williams has never had the success in concert music that he has had with his film scores. Jeffrey Engel will play excerpts from a variety of Williams' works and show how he excels in one type of music and less so in the other.
Presenter: Jeffrey Engel, retired professor of music, Northwestern Community College
