John will give a talk and show film clips about Jean Gabin (1904-1976), France's major film star and popular singer who worked his way up in the early 30's from supporting roles on screen to tough-guy leading roles. His acted characters include downtrodden men with tragic destinies and those who finessed activity on both sides of the war.
