What did you do when the pandemic became a reality?

Lucy Barton and her ex-husband, William, left NYC and drove to Maine. Once there, they began a different life. As you begin reading, pay attention to the subtlety of Lucy’s words as her story unfolds. She adjusts to her new residence, especially the climate in March, and being with William. She has time to read books and reflect on her relationship with family and friends. Walking by the sea helps her cope with her fear and the uncertainty that surrounds her, and she begins to find solace.

With her insightful words, author Elizabeth Strout has captured the unbelievable trauma and turmoil as her characters navigate their lives through the pandemic.
