Read Local at the Meriden Public Library

Are you a Meriden area author? Apply to be one of the authors for our Local Author Book Fair on Saturday, November 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

This is a chance for readers to connect with local authors, learn about new titles, and purchase signed copies of books. It’s also an opportunity for authors to gain exposure while showcasing their work in a friendly, relaxed setting. The event is open to all Connecticut authors, with preference given to authors from Meriden and the surrounding towns. Authors are responsible for supplying and selling their own books.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 30th from 1:00 pm – 4:00 p.m. Set-up will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Please complete this short application for consideration. Applications can be submitted online or at the Visitors Services Desk at the Meriden Public Library, 105 Miller St., Meriden CT 06450.

Applications for the Meriden Public Library Author Book Fair are due September 15th. 

Selected authors will be notified of acceptance during the week of September 30th. 

Criteria for  Submission and Event Guidelines:

  • Priority will be given to Meriden authors and those from surrounding towns, but other Connecticut authors are welcome to apply. Publication quality, local interest, artistic merit, and variety of genres will also be considered.
  • Books must be edited and published. Unpublished manuscripts will not be accepted. Authors who do not have printed copies of their books are not eligible. 
  • The Meriden Public Library reserves the right to accept or refuse any applicant at its discretion. 
  • Authors are responsible for supplying and selling their own books; they are responsible for their own payment systems. The Library cannot provide change or money exchange. If you choose to accept electronic payments, your payment mechanism must operate wirelessly, and its set-up and configuration are your responsibility.
  • The Library cannot provide technical assistance with payment platforms.
